A Status Yellow rain warning is currently in place for six counties as Met Éireann forecasts a “changeable” remainder of the week.
The warning, issued last night, applies to counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford.
It will be valid until noon today, and threatens to bring localised flooding, difficult travel conditions and poor visibility.
Today will be mild with temperatures between 13C and 16C with cloudy skies and widespread outbreaks of rain, particularly across the south and east.
Tonight will have scattered rain before becoming heavier overnight with lowest temperatures of 10C to 13C.
Tomorrow morning will see heavy rain in many parts, clearing northwards in the afternoon and evening with just patches of light rain. Highest temperatures of 13C to 17C.

Wednesday night will be be cloudy and rain is most places, and the heaviest outbreaks of rain will move northwards overnight with lowest temperatures of 9C to 13C.
There will be another cloudy morning on Thursday, with rain in northern areas and isolated showers elsewhere. The cloud will clear eastwards in the morning to leave sunny spells and just isolated showers in the afternoon. Highest daytime temperatures of 11C to 14C, dropping to between 4C and 8C by night.
More rain and cloud will move northeastwards on Friday and will be followed by sunny spells in the west and southwest. Highest temperatures of 9C to 15C, dipping towards 5C to 9C in the evening. The national forecaster says the weekend forecast still looks uncertain, but that Sunday will be the rainiest of the weekend days.
In its extended range forecast, Met Éireann predicts the arrival of remnants of ex-Hurricane Melissa, along with warm and moist air which will bring wet conditions.
